Indiana University East- Richmond

I did a show yesterday in Richmond, IN. I left Chicago at 8am and got to Richmond at 11am/or noon Indiana time. While there, I was able to tape a show called In Your Business about entrepreneurs pursuing their dreams and having success that will air in six counties in the area!! Pretty exciting!
The people at Indiana University East were so inviting and gracious. I can't say enough about the wonderful experience that I had there. I am looking forward to going back to Richmond and playing out there.
I got to sing a two hour set outside on campus and entertained all of the passers by and students who had a break to listen to my music. At one point, there were about 20 two year olds that came out to dance and clap and it was the cutest thing in the world!!! I couldn't help smiling and loving every minute of it!
Then, I packed it all up and headed for home. I ended up in a torrential downpour for 40 miles where I was going 45mph. It was brutal...I couldn't see a thing in front of me. Lightning kept on illuminating the dark sky and the rain was just coming down full force. Finally, I got through the tough part and the rest of the ride was smooth. I love how the speed limit is 70mph in Indiana. That way you can go 75mph and you are in the clear. Gets you home a lot faster!
I will be getting a copy of In Your Business in the next few weeks and am looking forward to posting it on my site!! Keep coming back to check for it! Hugs, Diana

NACA....here I come!!

Wow!! My hard work is paying off!!
I will be at the BCA Entertainment Exhibit booth at NACA Mid-America in late October and also at the NACA National Convention in February of 2008!!!
If any of you are not sure what NACA is, it's the National Association for Campus Activities. Basically, if you want to play a college show, you have to go to NACA's regional conferences or the national convention to talk to talent buyers from each school and try to get some dates on your calendar. Dates at schools fill up really quickly at these conferences, so most musicians that are trying to independently call colleges to book gigs are going to come up against a wall when it comes to booking. Believe me, I have tried. I am not saying that I never got replies or had success doing it on my own, but the numbers are pretty low as far as how many places called me back.

So back to NACA....I was so down in the dumps because I couldn't afford to get my own booth and I didn't have a booking agent to help me out and today of all days was the deadline for submissions!!!

I had emailed BCA a couple of days ago in the hopes that they could help me out with the college circuit. Well, I went to my email inbox this afternoon and I saw the best email in the whole wide world!! BCA emailed to offer me a spot as one of their artist's at the NACA National Convention. I have gotten plenty of rejection in this business and today was the best day to get a positive email!!

I know that the Universe works in wonderful ways...today was just a mere sampling of what it has to offer!!!
Thank you to everyone and everything!!
Love,
Diana

Review from Illinois Entertainer

Hi everyone!!
I wanted to share a really awesome review that I got from the Illinois Entertainer about The Back Room. Not only is it an awesome review, but it happens to be my first!!! Yay!! Good way to get started out of the gates! As you may know, it's been about two months since I left my day job so it's good to keep me going with positivity!! I am now working on getting some college shows and I will have some up on my schedule very soon. Till then, you can see me at Heartland Cafe in September, Coyote Art Festival in October, The Store on Halsted in November and Joe's Bar in December. Here is the review:
"Without a doubt, the star on Diana Rein’s album, The Back Room, is her evocative, lofty voice. Her delivery and range propel the bubbling opener, “You’ll Be Mine,” and lends grace and subtly to the title track. Her seductive vocals are matched with her superb guitar playing. Fiery leads on “Goodbye” show an acute sense of marrying melody with nimble technical acumen, and her flashy playing allows ample room for her songwriting to shine. (www.dianarein.com)"
